So this post is a little late in that my little girl turned 6 at the beginning of August. She had her friends party at the end of June so she could invite her school friends and actually have a chance of not having everyone away on vacation! My lovely friend Larissa of Bridal Beginnings helped me to coordinate this wonderful Ice Cream Parlor and Welcome to Summer party for me. Larissa is available for kids birthday parties as well as weddings and other event decorating needs. Check out her site here.

Buttercups and smiles – Child Photographer Maple Ridge and LangleyAugust 15th, 2011On my way home every day I pass by an abandoned lot next to a school and an old community hall. On my way home every day I pass by an abandoned lot next to a school and an old community hall. The lot looked like it used to be someones home but the house had obviously been torn down and all that was left was the gravel driveway and holes in the ground where plants and shrubs had been dug up. In June this year the lot filled up with a TON of buttercups. They were so thick that you couldn’t even walk through them! Just before Father’s Day I took my kids and my niece out to the lot for some photos that she could give to her daddy (my brother). They had alot of fun together and I got a few smiles and laughs!

My little boy “graduates” – Maple Ridge Child PhotographerAugust 6th, 2011I use the term graduate VERY loosely! He “graduated” from 2 day a week preschool to 3 day a week preschool – LOL not much of a difference but there was a little ceremony and I got to see him sing and be proud! |
It used to be called Sport’s Day… – Maple Ridge Child PhotographerAugust 6th, 2011When I was younger one of the most anticipated days of the school year was SPORTS DAY! A game filled with races and competitions set up all over the soccer field and playground. The school I currently work as still calls it Sports Day and runs it similar to how I remember it. When I was younger one of the most anticipated days of the school year was SPORTS DAY! A game filled with races and competitions set up all over the soccer field and playground. The school I currently work as still calls it Sports Day and runs it similar to how I remember it. Mollie’s school however does something different – they have a FUN DAY. It is sort of a carnival and fun fair type thing where the kids just go randomly from place to place and race or play whatever activity is there. Not really the same thing as a SPORTS DAY but the kids enjoyed it all the same.

Four years ago today I woke up early and knew that I would be holding my little boy soon. I called my midwife and she advised me to gather my things and head to the hospital. I had a very fast labour with Mollie and was most likely going to also have a fast delivery with Wil so they were taking no chances. By 10:30 am I was at the hospital and checked in and told to walk around the ward. I made two laps and headed back to my room as I knew it was getting close to pushing time. By 12:30 Wil had been born! No drugs at all and I remember everything quite clearly as a result – even though I only had two contractions worth of the laughing gas with Mollie it made me terribly groggy and dizzy feeling so alot of her labour is somewhat hazy.
My little guy is not so little anymore! He is almost as tall as his big sister and I predict he will surpass her in height within the next two years. Wil has amazing coordination when it comes to throwing and hitting things with bats, sticks etc. He still loves his Mommy and kisses and hugs me more than any guy I know! He idolizes his Grandpa and will sit all day beside him if he is building or fixing anything!
I love you William!
And one of my MESSY BOY at his Birthday party on Saturday!

Back in February I took the kids out into the backyard and snapped some photos of them in the lush green forest. The kids were super cooperative and loved being allowed to climb on the stumps in their dressy clothes! I think that most people assume it is easy to photograph your own kids because you are a photographer – NOPE in fact it is usually much much worse as they have been subjected to all the “practice” sessions and so by the time you want them to actually cooperate they have been long since DONE! I can’t complain though as usually the kids are pretty good about cooperating for at least 5 or 10 minutes at a time! LOL
Now for some of the pics – they are all converted to a really moody black and white which is not at all my normal editing style. I thought I would try out something new! Do you like it?
